Activity 1.1

Do I know what a handicraft is?
     -Yes I do know what a handicraft is. Handicraft is an activity that involves making something in a skillful way using our own hands.

Do I own a handcrafted item? What handicraft/s do we have in our house?
     -Yes i own a handcrafted item like in our house, we have pots that are handmade, banig from Zamboanga, basket, and some accessories like bracelet.

Do I like to use handicraft items? What are my reasons for using handicrafts?
     -Yes, I like to use handcraft items because I think handcraft items are better than plastic items, handcraft items are just simple but are beautifully designed by many different artistic designers,I can make sure that there is quality and most of all it is affordable.

 Do I have parents or relatives who have the skills in doing handicrafts?  What can I learn from them? (If possible, ask your parents)
     -Yes I have relatives who have the skills in doing handicraffts, even my mother knows how to made basket from the leaves of coconut tree. I can learn from them their skills and talents in making handicrafts because every time they make handcrafts items they let teach me on how to do it.

     What handicrafts can I do?
     - The handicrafts that I can do are handmade pot, basket (if ever there is my mother who will teach me), and accessories like bracelets and necklace.

What are my skills and talents that may help me in doing handicrafts?
     - My skills and talents that may help me in doing handicrafts are my creative skills, thinking skills, my patience skills, my social skills in communicating other people, my talent in using technology as one of my resources to help me in making handiraft and even my talent in art and in designing.

  Do I have the passion to learn skills in handicraft?
     -Yes I have the passion to learn skills in handicraft because I want to learn more the skills on how to make handcrafted items and that is why I am enrolled in this subject.

 Do I envision myself being an expert in one handicraft technique? Or entrepreneur for handicraft products?
     - Yes, sometimes especially when I finished one handicraft product that I really work hard for it. Sometimes, when I am alone, I am imagining that what if I know all the techniques on how to do this thing, on how to do that thing and then when my imagination really flies higher than ever, I imagined that what if I owned a good business and my business is handicraft and then many people will adore me and there will be the time that people may ask me to teach them. 
     - Being an entrepreneur for handicraft products is a great privilege specially when you are the one who made such handcrafts item.

How do handicrafts promote the way of life or culture of a place?

     - Handicrafts promote the way of life or culture of a place by the things/materials they used in making the handcraft item, by the way they put art in the product they created, by the step by step process on how to make such product and also by the product alone, it’s already explaining the way it was made, if it is cheaper or not or the quality of such product.

 In what ways do entrepreneurship or the entrepreneurs help preserve culture and traditions
     -Through: presenting products of such culture in many different places like in handicraft; through respecting, understanding and appreciating their traditions; through keeping it alive even though time goes fast, generation to generation; through sharing culture's art and technology; through teaching other people some traditions and let them experience it; and, don’t forget the mother-tongue language though there lots of languages that are influencing them.

  In what ways do handicraft industries help the entrepreneurs, artisans and the country as a whole?

       - They introduce and promote the products in many different countries all over the world. They conduct exhibits for the showcasing of the products. They make advertisement like in the radio, television and even in the social networking sites. They provide livelihood programs especially to those places that can’t access urban products. In short, handicraft industries help entrepreneurs, artisans and the country as a whole to have the better business and to have a successful business.

   Are there handicrafts that are not suited for boys? Or for girls? What are the reasons and instances behind this perception? Is this kind of thinking productive?

     - For me, there handicrafts that are not suited for boys like handicraft flower, shoulder bags for girls and accessories and also there are some handicraft that are not suited for the girls like handmade pots. The reasons and instances behind this perception are the facts that we already know about girls and boys. The fact that only boys can do hard task and girls for easy work. Yes, this is a kind of thinking productive because since before these ideas about girls and boys were implanted already into our brains and as time goes by, generations take changes of all this matter that whatever the boys can do, the girls can also do.
